Games and Sports at the school
The games and sports department offers an array of disciplines namely soccer, volley, Hockey, Basketball, Rugby, Handball, Athletics and Racquet games. Members of this department include; Mr Linus Otieno (Games master), Mr. Joseph Were(Basketball), Mr Gordon Ogutu (Basketball), Mr. Harun Wekesa (Basketball), Mr. Calvins Opiyo (Hockey), Mr. Simon Jumba (Rugby), Mr. Maurice Ongeng (Handball), Mr. David Machio (Handball), Mr. Erick Makori (Athletics), Mr. Peter Omondi (Volley, Md. Bridgit Mukari (Racquet Games), Mr. Michael Onyango (Soccer), Mr. Patrick Kipngeno (Ass. Games master).


Our students have excelled in sports activities. Basketball, hockey, rugby, handball were played this term 1 2023 and all our teams qualified to the county level held at Chemelil Academy. Three of our students also qualified to participate in athletics: Samwel John 4H in shot put, Steve Peter 4H in triple jump and Austine Otieno 3C in 100m and 200m races. Our basketball team, christened the ”Spartans” is the reigning Nyanza regional champions having beaten Agoro Sare in last year’s 2022 championship held at Asumbi TTC thereby representing Nyanza region in the national championship held in Nakuru. We hope to repeat the same in this year’s championship to be held in Kisii in April having beaten former giants Maseno School to retain the Kisumu county title.
Our objective as a department is to identify, nurture and develop talents in learners. This will go a long way in preparing learners for professional sporting activities. The teams have also participated in tournaments namely: The Annual Allan Bradley Tournament (Kamusinga), The Annual Makambo Open Tournament (St Peters Mumias) it is worth noting that our basketball team is the reigning basketball champions in these tournaments having defended their titles successfully this year 2023.
